One of the fun things about the Ancient format is that players can go back and try to re-create or innovate decks/archetypes using only cards with the old frame. Legacy
has existed since 1997, but it wasn’t until 2004 that the format got its own
Banned List separate from that of Vintage.
In fact, the name Legacy didn’t even exist
before the modern frames were introduced and the format was re-vamped. Because
of this, the Ancient format is a bit
unique from the old Type 1.5 decks that existed before the printing of the new
frames (and that’s not including the changes in deck-building
philosophies and general strategies that have been discovered since then). The same can also be said
for Ancient Power vs. Vintage in that a lot of ways the game
is played have changed, even if the cards have not.
